The two projects SI Alliance for Product Quality in Africa and QI Alliance for Product Quality in Africa worked in close coordination and were therefore evaluated together. In addition to the two PTB projects, the Alliance also comprises two projects implemented by GIZ. PTB and GIZ supported the same partner countries but GIZ focused on supporting companies in getting certification for voluntary standards and PTB has mainly cooperated with public sector quality infrastructure institutions.

The goal of the module is to improve the framework conditions for quality improvement in the Beninese soya sector. The module comprises three outputs: 1. standardization, 2. expansion of the range of services offered by laboratories and 3. expansion of public relations work by the quality infrastructure (QI) institutions. The module works in parallel with the GIZ "Trade for Development Fund".

Strengthening the quality infrastructure in ASEAN

The objective of the project is to enable ASEAN Member States to gear trade-relevant procedures of quality infrastructure (QI) to regional guidelines and international good practices. A special emphasis is put on food safety in Cambodia, Lao PDR and Myanmar.

The module objective of enhancing the performance of the regional metrology system is to be achieved through four outputs: 1. promoting cooperation among metrology institutions, 2. strengthening the ECOWAS Community Metrology Committee (ECOMET), 3. enhancing the visibility and positioning of metrology institutions, and 4. capacity building in metrology institutions in verification and quality management.
