The aim of the project was to apply quality assurance methods to monitor water quality in the Ganges catchment area. At the impact level, the objective was to increase the climate resilience of the population. This objective was to be achieved through 3 outputs to strengthen the necessary capacities of the responsible authorities and laboratories. The impact hypothesis was that quality assurance in all monitoring process steps would provide more reliable data on the water quality of the Ganges.

Strengthening quality infrastructure for sustainable economic development in Mauritania

The objective on outcome-level was: The National Office for Metrology and Standardization (ONANOR) provides fee-based, market-oriented quality infrastructure (QI) services for the mining and fisheries sectors. At the impact level, the objective was: The sustainability of selected economic sectors in Mauritania is improved. To this end, the National Metrology Laboratory was to be enabled to offer fee-based calibration services. For small-scale mining and traditional fisheries, gender- and environment-sensitive standards were to be developed, and information campaigns were to increase demand for QI services. The project was extended by four months at no additional cost.

The objective at the outcome level was to encourage private and public actors to make greater use of quality infrastructure services in the areas of environmental monitoring and the sustainable use of natural resources. At the impact level, the goal was to contribute to forest conservation, biodiversity, and climate protection. This was achieved through new services for monitoring environmental quality standards and emission limits, and by strengthening the capacities of INACAL and the Ministry of the Environment.
