The project objective was: Private and state companies and institutions in selected regions in Kyrgyzstan utilise quality infrastructure (QI) services. To achieve this goal, the project focussed on three fields of action: (1) capacity building of QI institutions to provide services, (2) improving access to reliable QI services in selected regions and (3) sensitising relevant stakeholders to the importance of QI for economic development.

The objective of the project is that “quality infrastructure services that meet national needs are available to the photovoltaic sector”. This objective should be achieved through three outputs: (1) strengthening the capacity of the quality infrastructure institutions for the photovoltaic sector, (2) identifying the needs of the national industry and private and public users of photovoltaic installations in terms of quality infrastructure services, and (3) agreeing on the elements needed to improve the framework conditions for quality assurance in the photovoltaic sector.

The National Institute of Standards (NIS) should be enabled to offer additional metrological services for food processing in line with demand. The development of chemical metrology and networking with QI institutions and customers from the food processing industry were relevant for new services and strengthening the competitiveness and exportability of the Egyptian food sector, especially small and medium-sized enterprises.

The project objective was to strengthen selected services of the quality infrastructure in the field of renewable energies and energy efficiency. At the impact level, the project aimed to promote sustainable and decarbonised energy systems. The project included technical advice, new testing procedures, regulatory reforms (PBE), institutional innovation (InovInmetro) and participatory dialogue formats. InovInmetro developed into the central innovation driver and dialogue forum.

At the outcome level, the project aimed to enable Nepalese QI stakeholders to offer demand-oriented services in economically and commercially relevant sectors. At the impact level, this was intended to strengthen Nepal's economic development and market integration. This was achieved through measures in metrology, food safety and quality management in value chains. No fundamentally new approaches were taken during implementation.
